Th is weekend will see Newport’s Oregon
Coast Aquarium roll out the extension
cords for Sea of Lights, the largest holiday
light display on the Central Oregon Coast.
Th e dazzling event invites guests to
stroll the aquarium after dark surrounded
by the illuminated shapes of their favorite
sea creatures and thousands of colorful
holiday lights. Santa will be busy granting
holiday wishes and posing for photos with
guests.
Th is family-friendly event kicks off
with a special celebration on Friday and
Saturday, Dec. 6 and 7, from 6 to 9 pm.
Admission to this fi rst Friday and Saturday
of Sea of Lights is $2 plus two items of
nonperishable food for the Food Share of
Lincoln County or the Lincoln County
Animal Shelter. Entry is $10 per person
without a donation. Aquarium members
can get in free but are still encouraged to
bring an item to donate.
Sea of Lights will continue to illuminate
the aquarium every Friday and Saturday
night of December from 5 to 8 pm.
Admission is $10 or free with same-day
paid admission.
Th e aquarium, located at 2820 SE
Ferry Slip Road, Newport, is open from 10
am to 5 pm every day this winter, except
Wednesday, Dec. 25.

Santa hats with bells on the end were
made to be jiggled, so put your festive
chapeau through its paces at Lincoln
City’s annual Jingle Bell 5K Jog, set for
Saturday, Dec. 14.
Hosted by the Lincoln City Parks &
Recreation Department, this fun event
is open to runners, joggers, walkers, baby
strollers and pets. Costumes are optional
but recommended, and bells will be
provided.
“Th is will be my second year racing
in, as well as directing the Jingle Bell Jog
5K,” said Recreation Program Manager
Raleigh Bartholomew. “Th is is one of my
favorite races of the year because you get
to see all ages of athlete dressed up and
running for fun. I’ll be wearing my Santa
Hat and will hope to see you there.”
Th e run starts at the Lincoln City
Community Center with an out-and-
back course on the paved Head to
Bay trail along NE 22nd Street and
West Devils Lake Road. Th e race
will take place rain or shine, with hot
chocolate and coff ee served immediately
afterwards. Race T shirts will be available
for purchase on the day of the race.
