Amid the pandemic at our thrift shop, Linda’s Rag and Bone in Seaside, my husband and I learned that our customers just really wanted to try and live as
normal a life as possible. Many, many times we were thanked for being open, which surprised us, because we were so glad they were shopping in our store
during that stressful time.
We were literally able to keep our front door open thanks to an effi cient heater, and along with the sanitizer and plexiglass shield we tried to give our patrons
a small sense of security from the COVID germs.
People needed to shop, to get out of their houses, to talk to strangers, and to try to get back to living, but the masking was the reminder that we were still in
a confusing and scary time.
Overall, our business was very successful during the pandemic, we had no issues or problems, and we were able to stay consistent with our hours. We didn’t
really change anything and our customers were comforted to see us open for business as usual.
