Sullivan, 43, caters to local clien- tele, which he feels is a reason for his success. “I opened a business for the peo- ple that live here,” he said after giving a Coast Guard member a crew cut on Monday, Jan. 4. “Not so much the people who are coming here and a lot of people go the other way —and that can hurt in the winter.” Road construction limits business Recent construction along South Holladay Drive involving install- Victory Barbershop Jacob Sullivan, owner 10B N. Holladay Dr., Seaside 503-994-2237 ing new sewer, ADA accessible side- walks, roadway reconstruction, asphalt paving and street lighting (part of the Southeast Seaside Urban Renewal Plan’s Holladay Streetscape Project) has come with some growing pains for nearby businesses. “When they close the road everyone feels it,” Sullivan said. “A lot of people have gotten accus- tomed to not going downtown because there’s construction.” The stories and the people are Sul- livan’s favorite part, and with walks-in there’s just no telling who will come through the door next. “You get a lot of different opinions on things, and it’s nice to get outside your own box.” LUKE WHITTAKER APPLIANCE PACKAGE DEALS Barber Jacob Sullivan laughs as he interacts with a customer in early January.
