Firemen put out the flame before it spread to the inside of the house. Mrs. Wells and her young daugh ter, who were cleaning house, had heard a noise on the roof and thought it was a squirrel. The fire evidently started when they burn ed some trash paper in the stove sending sparks out the chimney. Mr. Wells came home from work while the fire was burning on the roof, but didn't notice it.
