An Open L etter to Voters
On The Election
The people of Cottage Grove will make a decision
at the polls on February 28 which will have a direct in
fluence on the future progress of the city. For years
the l f f limitation on money to be raised by taxation for
the general fund has made it impossible for the city
council to properly meet the problems arising as a result
of the continued growth and, progress. The Citizens
Advisory Committee feels that this out-dated 1% lim ita
tion should definitely be repealed, and, asks the cooper
ation of all voters in the coming election.
In order that there should be no misunderstanding
as to the power of the city council to budget money for
necessary expenses, it must be remembered that the
budget will still be limited by the state law which does
not allow an increase in excess of 6 '< . With this in mind
we feel that the voters will surely vote for progress and
do away with the 1$< limitation.
