Word reached this community the early part of this week of the birth of a baby daughter to Mr. and Mrs. David Hulse now of -Empire but one time residents of this community. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Wagner and little daughter of Salem were guests at the home of Ernest’s mother, Mrs. Minnie Wagner, the past week end. J. H. Spahr has been seriously ill at his home ever since Satur day morning, however, he is slow ly improving at this writfirig. The' earlier part of the week Mrs. Spahr was ill too. Mrs. Sidney Sheets spent Sunday and Monday at the Spahr home helping to care for her father, as did Mrs. Gretta Estabrook. Mrs. H. E. Tryk and Susan de parted for Los Angeles, Calif., Sunday to spend the remainder of the school year, as Mr. Tryk is being transferred by the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Co., to Florence. * Carl'Owen spent Saturday night with Larry Kelly. —------- Mr. and Mrs. C.
