daughter Lida to Peter Mike
Fetter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter
Fetter.
The bride-elect attended the
local high school and he graduated
with the class of '47. He enlisted
in the army and served four years,
two years of which were overseas,
one year in Korea and one in
Okinawa.

Merchants’ Lunch
And Bazaar Set
The Woman's Society of Chris­
tian Service of the Methodist
church is sponsoring a merchants'
lunch, bazaar, fancy work booth.
Christinas cards, candy booth and
ceramics Saturday, November 15,
in Friendship hall at the church.
The -bazaar w ill start at 10 a jn .
and merchants' lunch w ill begin
at 11:30. Pie, cake and coffee w ill
be served during the afternoon.

A formal pledge tea and instal­
lation of tentative officers of the
newly organized Beta Beta chap­
ter of Beta Sigma Phi, weie held
recently at Roseburg by members
of Alpha Iota chapter of that city,
at the home of Mrs Robert Kent.
Twelve local ladies «-ere pledg­
ed at the impressive ceremony
read by Mrs. Ralph Wiley, presi­
dent of the Roseburg chapter
Mrs. Harold Monighan, formerly
of Roseburg now of Cottage
Grove, was the leader in forming
of the Cottage Grove chapter.
Mrs. Craig Short, extension of­
ficer of Alpha Iota chapter, was
in charge of the meeting.
Tentative officers i n s t a l l e d
were: Mrs. Oliver Farmen. presi­
dent: Mrs. Robert Boyce Jr., vice
president: Mrs. Gilbert Gardner,
recording secretary ; Mrs. Robert
Bauder, corresponding secetary:
Mrs. Harold Neal, treasurer; Mrs.
Howard Gilbert, extension officer,
and Mrs. Harold Monighan. mem­
ber advisor.
Methodist Men Set
Thanksgiving Meal
The Methodist Men have an­
nounced their annual Thanksgiv­
ing turkey dinner for Monday and
Tuesday nights, November 17 and
18, in Friendship hall of the
church. The dinner w ill be served
at 6:45 each evening.
Members, their families and
friends whose last names begin
w ith A and run through L are to
attend on Monday night and those
whose last names begin w ith the
letter M and run through Z w ill
attend on Tuesday night. How­
ever. if there are some who can­
not attend on these nights, ar­
rangements can be made to change
nights by calling the office of the
church.
Elmer Kent, president of the
Methodist Men, is also general
chairman. His assistants are S. L.
Mackin and Mark Morgan. Pro­
gram chairman fo r Monday night
is J. B. Leonard, while A rt Wein-
kauf is program chairman for
Tuesday night.
There w ill ^be no charge, but a
silver offering w ill be taken to pay
expense«.
