all of Lorane route. Cottage
Grove, exchanged w«?dding vows
at the Free Methodist parsonage
The Rev. C. B. Starkey read the
impressive ceremony.
The bride wore a light beige
suit, brown accessories and a cor­
sage of gardenias and pink rose­
buds.
They were attended by Mrs.
Jerry Beers, sister-in-law of the
bride, and Gilbert Yearous.
The couple left immediately for
Ashland for the week end. Before
leaving the Rev. and Mrs. Starkey
presented them with a beautiful
white Bible.
Mr. Godard returned to Cor­
vallis where he is a sophomore at
Oregon State college. They plan
to make their home in Cottage
Grove.
The scripture and special pro­
gram were prepared by Mr L« na
Aubrey. At the election of offit ers
Mrs. Jerry Eastham was r«-elcct«l
president; Mrs. E. A. Teich, vice
president; Mrs. Melvin Kerr, sec­
retary and Mrs. Maude Robertson,
treasurer. The Chiistmas gift ex­
change followed th«- election, and
cards were sent to two of their
absent members s i g n e d by all
those present.

ELECTS OFFK ERS
Mrs. Jack Dillon was elected
president of Constellation club
when the organization met Thurs­
day afternoon at Masonic hall for
the Christmas party, turkey din­
ner and election. Thirty were
present. Other officers are: Mrs
George Witters, vice-president:
Mrs. Leo Rickard, secretary-
treasurer.
The club voted to give one
hundred dollars to the Masonic
lodge, the money to be applied on
the new dishes for the hall.

Mrs. Roy Short was hostess
Tuesday to the members of the
M. P. G. club at her home which
was beautifully decorated in keep,
ing with the Yuie season. Her
luncheon table was centered with
a ming tree adorned with Christ­
mas decorations and colors of red
and white were her color scheme.
The usual gift exchange fol­
lowed the luncheon, and Mrs.
Short, president of the club, pre­
sented each member with a lovely
guest towel. All members of the
club were present.
The next meeting will be Jan­
uary 5 with husbands of the mem­
bers as guests.

coats is particularly good, with
something worthwhile available
for almost every taste and price
level. Mutation mink and navy
broadcloth combines for a really
handsome town coat. The fur col­
lar is on the front of the bolero
which end* at the *ide scam* to
emphasise the bloused back, a de­
tail that marks many of the n< w-
est eoat*. The straight skirt i* re­
lieved in front by a few gathers at
*ithcr side of the waist.
Apple Dumplings for Dessert
By ALICE DENHOFF
HEARTY desserts make a nies
wind-up for a meal whose main
course is somewhat on the skimpy
side or concocted from left-overs,
and a good ending sits well with
folks who partake of a fish or egg,
cheese and pasta casserole. What
menfolk* really do go for is a help­
ing of well-made apple dumplings,
but this recipe permits peaches,
pears, prunes or apricot* In lieu of
apples, If so desired.
To serve 6, peel, core and slice
apple* to make 2 c. thin slices. Place
in saucepan with 2 c. water, one
e. sugar and tbsp, butter. When this
boils, drop in dumplings made as
follows: Sift 2 e. flour, 8 tsp. bak­
ing powder together with '4 tsp.
salt. Stir % c. eream into this.
Drop the dumpling* into the boil­
ing apple liquid and cover closely.
Cook for 20 min. Keep the liquid
just boiling, but not violently »o,
lest the syrup burn. Th* apple
dumplings may be eooked In the
oven in a covered baking dish, a
glass on* being * good choice. Ui*
a 350 F. oven. In cooking dumpling*
over liquid, it I* the gtcnm that
cooks them »nd th* liquid should
boil gently.
Pineapple cream 1* • dellcloii*
dessert. To servo 4, cut 4 marsh­
mallow* into bits and mix with % e.
preserved pineapple. Combine '4 e.
cream, an egg white and «trained
juice of '4 lemon. Beat thia «tiff
and mix with the pineapple. Pile
into *herbct glasses. Serv* cold,
decorated with bit» of candied
cherries.
For * dessert that Is as pleasing
as it is pretty, heat a pint of grena­
dine in a saucepan. Drain a can of
pears and cook th* fruit in th*
grenadine until It 1« a rich red.
Pine* th* pear* on a decorative
dish in a contrasting color such
as a rich green, or dull blue. Serv*
the pear» hot, placing each on a
portion of ic* cream.
