Quail Hearing
Set for Oct. 14th
C. A. Lockwood. Oregon State
lame Diiector, announced today
hat the Game Commission will
iold a public hearing at its Port-
and office October 14, to deter-
nine whether the bag limit on
alley quail should be raised from
> per day and not more than 15
luring the entire season to 8
uail a day and not more the 24
luring the entire season. The
tearing will also consider whether
Klamath County and that part of
^ake County lying west of U. S.
lighway 395 and north of Valley
•'alls should be added to the open
irea for valley quail hunting dur-
ng the regular season.
At the time that the hunting
egulations were set in July, vety
ew valley quail broods had hatch,
d. although brood stock numbers
vere down somewhat in cartain
ireas. no measure of the ••urrent
tatch was obtainable. Recent in-
'ormation indicates that valley
luail have had a highly successful
testing season, and in spite of
■vinter losses, the current crop in
"entral Oregon counties is above
lormal.
SEVEN WI NTERS BRING
BACK SEVEN DEER
Among the unusually successful
hunters returning from eastern
Oregon over the week end was a
group of seven who secured seven

Maulding. Chet Nordstrom. Har-
dd Wicks, John Edwards, Ray-
nond Wicks, and W. A. Edwards.
The Silver Lake section has been
the favored hunting grounds for
‘his party for several years.
Monday four more local hunters
left for Silver Lake to try their
'tick. This party was composed of
\lvis Wicks. Miles Wicks. James
