year* arc expected to attend the
Timber Carnival July 2, .3 and 4 in
Allxiny this year, according to
Larry Roth, president. 1-ast year's
three-day event drew an est i-
mati-d 50.<XX) visitors from all over
the country.
Roth told reporters today that
the Jaycee chapter her»-. s|xinsoni
of Timberland's biggest show, has
mapped out it many sided program
that wd! top all Timber Carnivals
since the Altiany institution start-
od rolling in 1940.
Contestants in the July 3 lake
events have entered from as far
away as Michigan and Minnesota
to compete for world champion­
ships and for the S2,O(X) in prizes
that will be awarded top men in
the logging contests. Sp«-ed climl»s.

rolling and jousting competition
will b<- held at Waverly lake one
mile northeast of here. An ama­
teur talent show, which will also
run July 4, and a baseball game
will top off the July 3 festivities
on the court house plaza.
Spectators will watch logger

preceded by a water ski show on
the lake, brought to the Carnival
for the first time this year, put on
by Willa Worthington, national
water ski champion. Miss Worth­
ington will perform again that
evening.
Fireworks, merchandise awards,
softball games and a fireworks ex-
.dbit arc scheduled for the last
day of the Carnival also, Roth
said.
On July 2, organizations from
ill over the northwest will par-
ticipate in a several-mile long pa­
rade. which will mark the opening
of the 19-19 Timber Carnival. A
street show at a down-town inter­
section is slated for the afternoon

In the evening of the opening
day of the Timber Empire's big­
gest show, a queen and court will
be crowned in a picturesque |»ag-
eant on Waverly lake, July 1.
Both modern and old time
dances will lx* held every night of
the event, and baseball games will
be featured daily. At the 4-11 club
building near Waverly lake, a ape-
cial industry exhibit will bc open
to the iflililic daily from 10 a.m.
to 10 p.m., and Imperial Expasi-
lion Shows will have its midwqy
open four days and nights.
