THREE SUCCESSFUL EVENTS
That this section can do things in a successful way has
been amply demonstrated in the past year or two. Congratu
lations are therefore in order for the (’uttage Grove Riding
club, the Junior < hamber of (‘ommerce and R. S. Drenner, altho
the. Rei a which is sponsored by the Jaycees and the pageant,
which is the brain child of Mr. Drenner are the two events to
look forward to, past years have demonstrated their success.
We might say, however, the three successful projects are
yet in the experimental stage and whether or not they liecome
more or less permanent will depend in a large measure on how
they are operated; more on how the sponsoring organizations
cooperate. To have worthwhile enterprises of this sort blossom
for a time and then die down would be nothing short of tragedy
and therefore we feel the urge to give a bit of free advice based
on the comments we have heard du ri Hie past few weeks.
Rodeos are common and nearly every cross roads communitv
puts them on. but it seems that the Cottage Grove Riding club
has what it takes to present a successful rodeo which the pub
lic supports. This organization is to be especially congratulated
on the tact that they have just finished their first professional Stassen
event, has secured grounds ami has made a good starf toward
a substantial building program. Its future success will of course
depend primarily on the Cottage Riding club.
Like the liend water pageant. R. S. Drenner is offering
something unique in the annual pageant, a show that is not
seen anywhere else in the United States so far as we know.

“if” is if Drenner can get the public support and the support of
the Rod and Gun club. He has stated that this will be his last
year to spend about sixty days of his own time in building the
pageant parphernalia and in trying to get a cast together. Mr.
Drenner only recently told a Sentinel reporter that he would
be glad to direct the event, but felt it was too much of a sac
rifice to try and run the whole show.
And in connection with any community event such as the
three mentioned above, the common complaint has been that
the hard work has been left up to a few individuals. The Junior
( hamber of Commerce is having the same trouble, only a few
respond when the call is sent out for volunteers.
The three events have demonstrated one thing, that the
community can accomplish enterprises of which all can be proud.
The only logical thing to do is to roll up our sleeves and help
