I am deeply convinced that agriculture mud he maintained on a

The interests of agriculture and industry are always inter­
twined. If one is prosperous the other will be prosperous.
Depression for one inevitably means misery for the other.
But there is no need to fear depression at all if we can get
ahead with a creative development of our natural resources.
The inter-dependency of farm and factory is nowhere better
shown than in the Northwest’s great program of conservation
and utilization of its water resources for the development at
power and tbe reclamation of land.
In thia critical hour ths mantle of world leadership hat
fallen on our shoulders. Our Republican Party alone has the
faith, the practical competence and the devotion to peace to
meet the desperate appeal of free men everywhere for leader-
ship. Our country it being challenged in the world today by
cold force and ruthless political opportunism. We must be
strong enough to be sble to itsnd up boldly snd fearlessly
when we are threatened with bruts force. But force alone
will never win the ultimate decision. If the world is to be uved
from totalitarian barbarism, it must be uved by the skillful
uu of peaceful means, by the triumph of ideas and ideala.
In the winning of the peace every advantage ia on our side.
The Republican Party will wage and win the peace by a new
