WINTER GOLF PLAY FOR THE LADIES Despite the inclement weather December 10, five ladies played golf at the local course. We will continue having this play for each month, on th° second Wednesday. । Next meeting will be January 14 with a luncheon served at 12 noon I»y Mrs Geo. Ross at the club house. Everyone is invited to come and bring a friend. Please call Mrs. Ross in advance if coming to the luncheon. You do not need to be a member of the golf dub to i play, If weather is not suitable wc will play cards. Ella Zimmerly had the lowest score while the president of the club had the high- \ est. LxK'hic Thompson was award ed the prize for the best putting1 on No. 5. She and Vera Ziebcck tied with identical scores. Mrs. Earl Hill suggested wc begin a ladies golf ladder, and she was appointed to take charge of this. Next time we will challenge the one above us on the ladder. Vera and Lochic plan to play off the tie. On January 14 all players are requested to come in costume. | Most authentic costume will re-| ceive a prize. So doll up and come out for some fun during the win ter months. May take snapshots. Attendance was cut down due to the fact that Alma Scars and Mrs. R. L. Sodergren were on the radio i program for Cottage Grove day. Dec. 10, and had to go to Eugene. Others were prevented for various reasons from attending the first winter meeting. RAINBOW GIRLS PLAN DANCE A regular meeting of the Rain- lx>w Girls was held Monday night. December 8th and plans were made for a f o r m a I Christmas dance to lie held Decemlter 27. Outside girls and boys will be in vited anti music will bo furnished by records. The dance will be held tn the Masonic hall. This was followed by the read ing of a petition and balloting.’ M. P. G. Her dessert ta ble was centered with red carna tions and miniature yelkiw mums with red tapers The Christmas gift exchange followed th«- lunch eon and the members voted to send two Christmas packages to the Veterans hospital at Rose burg Mrs Karl Mills, president of the club, presented each member with a gift. The Christonas party and gift । exchange will be Monday at 3:00 i p.m. in the armory. HCOITH PLAN CHR1NTMAN PARTY Allard Maddess wax in charge of the Boy Scout troop 18 meeting I Monday night. Following the opening ceremony the troop made plans for a Christmas party and the boys planned to draw names for presents. Parents of the Scouts are invited to attend the party The investiture service, a can dlelight ceremony was held in the latter part of the meeting. L. A. Naish acted as master of cere monies and was assisted by Scouts Kon Mooney, Bob Mendeil, Duane Radloff and Larry Safley. In this impressive ceremony Glenn Hunt, Eddie Graham. Gary Gardner. Al lard Maddess and Wesley Naish received their tenderfoot pins and officially became Boy Scouts of America. The meeting closed with a special ceremony. Elva Eldred of Portland was a guest and presented a gift to Nel lie Christiansen for making the most calls during the quarter. 4-11 MOTHERS MAKE CHRISTMAS PLANS The London 4-H Mothers club met on Wednesday at their club house for an all day meeting with a covered dish luncheon at noon In the absence of the president the business meeting was con- ductcd by Esther Banton Thanks for flowers sent by the club were received from Maryjo Phillii» and Margaret Ritter. Mrs. Phillips was able to attend the club after a prolonged illness. Plans were completed for the Christmas party and members were reminded that gifts for the l exchange were not to/exceed the cost of one dollar. Guests may be invited and should bring gifts for the exchange. It was decided that| the club would purchase treats fori the youngsters but that each mother was to bring a toy for her own child for the tree. There will be the regular covered dish luncheon at noon. During the day members made cuddle dolls from old silk hose, j worked on shell craft and did handwork, A wedding anniversary gift wan received by Florence Riggs from her Pollyanna.
