I CENTURIES Superintendent and Mrs. H. B. Ferrin received a cable from their son, Captain Allan Ferrin, who is with the medical corps, saying he left Yokohama on December 4th and hopes to be home for Christ mas. Captain Ferrin left the states 18 months ago for Japan and the first year was spent as quarantine officer at various ports in Japan. The past six months have been at the 155th station hospital. Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Melvin of Lorane route lost their home Tuesday by fire which was caused by an overheated stove. Neighbors assisted in. putting out the fire but all that was saved was the washing machine and the clothes they were wearing. It was par tially covered by insurance. The Melvins are living in a small building on the place until they can rebuild. Plans by the millions were shat tered when war made traveling a mere dream for the future. Such were the plans of Mr. and Mrs. Walter A. Woodard and the ful fillment of their dream started last Tuesday when they left for New York City as their first stop on a holiday.
