help Myrtle celebrate her eleventh
birthday. The usual games were
played, but by one who was pres
ent, the high light of the evening
was when the young ladies gather
ed around the dining table. The
table was pretty with the birth
day cake topped with 11 lighted
candles sitting on a large mirror
edged with 11 pink roses alter
nating 11 gumdrop favors. A Iprge
blue candle was at each end of the
table. In front of each girl was a
gift which was presented to Myr

candles and carved the cake.
Plates then replaced the gifts. On
each plate were checkerboard

Ye«, you can have your trip and extra
money, too, when you travel by Greyhound!
You save on every ticket... and these sav
ings can mean new clothes, money in the
bank, or more fun along the way. Besides
the economy, you get extra comfort... many
buses are brand-new, more are coming. And
you also get extra sightseeing pleasure
that only Greyhound travel can give.

THIS TO SAY
And now to the bright side.
No town with as many advan
tages as this one has, can be
kept “down in the dumps” per
manently.

And perhaps the first advan
tage which should be mention
ed, is the suberb local school
system. Management, person
nel, overall efficiency and rep
utation—no finer schools will
be found anywhere. For the
person with children of school
age, this consideration alone is
enough to recommend this com
munity above many others. It
is a definite and unchallengable
advantage, anil one easily made
use of because of the good lo
cations of the various units.
However, while these schools
are located here beianse of the
town being here, It should not
be forgotten that they are the
product of the school districts,
and NOT of the City of Cot
tage Grove, an such.
