Dr. Ethel I. Sanborn, associate professor of botany here, and Dr. Maxwell S. Doty, of Northwestern University, are authority for the statement that 188 determined species of algae are to lx» found along the Oregon coast in the vi cinity of Coo« Ray. Many of the typical California species come north to Oregon, while many of the Puget Sound species extend south to the Ctxai Bay region or a little beyond, makiqg that area richer in sea flora than the coast either to the north or south. The first report of scientific studies of these forms of plant life along the Oregon coast has now been published as an Oregon State monograph entitled "The Marine Algae of the Coos Bay Cape Ar ago Region of Oregon.
