At the moment we ar«' thinking how appropriate t reorg8i,tz<> the Chamber of Commerce into a live organization and seek the cooperation of other groups, partic- ularly some of the rural groups like the Granges, so that when plans are laid for some civic enterprise. we might take a broad view of the benefits of such enterprise to the region as a whole rather than what they might do to one locality. It has been said that one reason some of our civic groups never accomplish«?«! anything was due to the fact that individual members on examining the proposition and failing to find where they would profit individually would immediately reject the plan« Thia might be classed as plain selfishness, but selfishness never won a war, never built a community, a church or school oi* any other worthwhile organization. MANY COMMUNITIES PLANNING HOSPITALS An increasing number of communities are planning hospi tals over the northwest. We note that plans are being made for the erection of a fifty bed hospital at Newberg, which was ae- cording to the 1940 census, about the size of Cottage Grove. Among the newly constructed hospitals is one at Seaside. This institution, operated by the city has paid its way from its incep- Similar reports are received from other hospitals, which disproves for the present at least that a hospital must always be classed ao a financial liability. Of interest too is the fact that hospital associations appear to be the coming thing and many community hospitals are oper ated by hospital associations. More and more hospital associa tions are being organized under the cooperative plan and at least oh«'instance we note where a very successful hospital has the ifrernbership fee down to a very reasonable financial level. Mem- betahips in this institution are down to $12.00 per year for the heMds of the family with $8,00 per year for each dependent in the family. Hospital rooms are down as low as $2.50 per day with major operations as low as $20.00. {Grand Opening of Hansen Bros, to Be Saturday, Nov. 30 NOVEMBER 28 GIVES US IO OUNCES THANKSGIVING NITE Cottage Grove Armory BUDDY CLUB Music by Eddie Davis Orchestra NOW PERFUMERS BLEND AS MAN/ AS ¿000 SYNTHETIC ODORS INTO ONE PERFUME WNKM BECOMES WORLD FAMOUS UNDER AN IDENTIFYING MY HUSBAND LIKES ONLY TME PER FUME I WORE WHEN HE met me he even KNOWS ITS NAME 1 ; Church Activities I LIKE TO TOY THE NEW BRANDS ning service 7:30.
