CLUB MEETS AT BRADFORD HOME Cottage Grove Business and Professional Women met for their business meeting at the home of Ruth Bradford on February 11. Information concerning the dis trict conference at Albany was read and eight members indicated their intention to attend on Feb. 17. The resignation of Marie Cars tensen from the nomination com mittee wa.s accepted and Mrs Magna Kanimann was elected to ¡fill this vacancy. The group also decided to add a second vice pres ident to their executive council and to have an advisory board made up of the three immediate past presidents. The club also began fund raising campaign to get funds for their high school scholarship and campership awards. A "waist line" drill netted JU 00 from the twen ty members present. Mrs. Orris Steele, assisted by Joy Haworth and Ruth Bradford, is in charge of a useful white elephant sale to be held at the next regular social mix'ting on February 25. The housing committee report ed and were directed to make fin al arrangements for the selection of a new meeting place. Definite : announcement will be given at the next meeting. ■ The March 18th meeting will be a party honoring their Girl Scout troop. Pleuard, formerly of this city, but now of Portland, was quietly sol emnized Saturday noon. February 2nd, at Vancouver, Washington, at a double ring ceremony. The bride was attractive in a blue silk jersey dress with match ing accessories and a corsage of Talisman roses. The bride is employed in the laboratory of Swifts in Portland and the groom is working in the shipyards. After the ceremony the couple motored here and spent the week end at the home of Mr. Plueard's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Plueard. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Plueard returned to Portland Monday af ternoon with them, where they plan to make their home. FORMER RESIDENT TO W ED Invitations have been received to the coming wedding of Miss Sarah Elizabeth (Bethi Hall, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. C. J. Hall, of Goldendale. Washing- ton to Russell David Clark on February 23rd in the Methodist church at Goldendale. The Halls were former residents here, the Rev. Hall being pastor of the lo- cal Methodist church. JOKER CU B Two tables were at play Mon- day night at the meeting of the Joker club when Mrs. Maude Wheeler entertained the group at a dessert course and evening of cards. The club voted to give $2.00 toward the March of Dimes. Mrs. Herbert Lombard will entertain the club at the next meeting. AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY At the business meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary Mon day night in the IOOF hall Hester Reed, membership chairman, re ported 52 paid up members. It was voted to donate $5.00 to the polk* fund Maude Gierau and Nell Bukowski were appointed to make plans for the Auxiliary to sponsor a dance at a later date. Maude Gierau was appointed chairman with Dorothy Boyce, Verna Lombard and Helen Rob erts on a committee for the Legion's birthday party in March. A committee was appointed to draw an amendment to authorise the unit to raise the annual dues. Mrs. Hester Reed was presented with a Navy Plate as a token of appreciation for her work in the Auxiliary. She is leaving for Rose burg to make her home. Mrs. Jeanne Morton and Mrs. Charles Hall served refreshments at the close of the mating to the Auxiliary and Legion members. PAST MATRONS DESSERT A 1:30 dessert course was serv ed the Past Matrons club Monday afternoon by Mrs. Maude Wheeler and Mrs. Della Richmond at the home of Mrs. Wheeler. At the business meeting a silver offering was taken for the March of Dimes resulting in a contribution of $2.50, A covered dish dinner w-as planned for Feb ruary 22nd for the past matrons and their husbands and the past patrons and their wives. This will be held in the Masonic temple preceding the meeting of the Eastern Star. The next meeting of the Past Matrons club will be with Mrs. Chas. Hall and Mrs. Max Sears will be co-hostess. MRN.
