A novelty song skit by a group of high school girls, a duet by Mr. and Mrs. Mads Overgaard. a reading by Mrs. La Londe, whistl ing solos by Olive White, accor dion numbers by Ruth Harris, Christmas carols and other Christ mas songs by ail completed the program except for Old Santa who arrived in time for treats. Social dancing and refreshments followed. Nina Chapman and Jeanne Lamb served. Sunday evening Capt. and Mrs. Briggs calk'd on friends here. On the USS Bon Homme Rich ard-Pvt. Fred L. Psrtney, 19. Cottage Grove, Ore., debarked at Guam with more than 500 other marines from this big “carrier transport" for further assignment to duty in the Western Pacific. The Richard, part of the 3rd Fleet during the war and now a unit of the Navy’s “Magic Carpet" fleet, transports high-point servicemen to the states for discharge and others to the Pacific to replace them. Delight Valley The Oscar Fla ten family were in Portland over the week end to meet their son Ashley, who is at tending the New Mexico Military Institute at Roswell. and has come home for the holidays. Mr. and Mrs I. Davis enroute from Little Shasta, Cal., to Con Mi lls. were recent overnight guests at the C. H. Haight home. The Delight Valley school had their Christmas program Worlnes- day evening. The pupils and teach ers will have a Christmas party and gift exchange Friday after noon.
