Robert McGee Trask, w ith the arm y a ir force, kille d in action over Europe March 29, 1944. A four page folder printed fo r the occasion bore the picture of Lt. Trask, the order o f church ser vices, his o b itu a ry and a poem, “The A irm an's P rayer." L t. Trask a native of Cottage Grove had been active in the local Pres byterian church since boyhood. Not o nly was he active in a ll de partm ents o f the church, but was a life Boy scout, a member o f the DcM olay in Eugene, graduate of the local high school w ith the class of 19.39, la te r attending Ore gon State College. He enlisted in the a rm y a ir corp» in 1942 and a fte r tra in in g a ye ar was sent to England as a co-pilot on a B-24 Bomber. In this capacity he served u n til M arch 29. 1944 when the ship w ith a ll the crew save one went down. He received the a ir medal and Oak Leaf cluster and the Purple H eart was awarded Posthumously. He was buried at Cambridge England in an A m e ri can cemetery. He was the son o f M r. and Mrs. Robert A Trask of Cottage Grove and was m arried to Miss M ar- tha Boentgen of Eugene on A p ril 24. 1943. Recreational Project 3rd Week . .
