Grass Roots
John Hamilton, national commit
teeman, used the expression in a
speech made at Topeka in January
on the occasion of Kansas Repub
licans celebrating their 1934 victory.
One explanation ta that grass roots
s equivalent to getting down to
the brass tacks of a situation. An
other Is that the rally is held to
revitalize the party from the roots

What 0. S. Foresters Say
Foresters of the department of ag
riculture say the fuel value of some
species of trees is but little im
proved by seasoning, largely be
cause of the small amount of mois
ture they contain at the time of
cutting.
Black locust, shagbark
hickory, hxigepole pine, American
beech, Virginia or scrub pine, white
ash. red pine, douglas fir and Osagc-
>range are several.
Patrons of Huntsville, Ala., local
drug atores are getting used to see

the fountain bars here. Guards at
the arsenal are now accompanied
"on their appointed rounds," by
these trained guard dogs, and when
their masters find it necessary to go
into local drug stores their dugs go
along.

poultry-man at OSC.
Timber Supplies Abundant
Not only are our tim ber supplies
most abundant, they are being add
