Through cooperation of the fair management with the club dc[«art- ment of the O.S.C. extension ser vice, the fat stock »how, as well as competition in crops, vegetable gardening, home economics pro jects. and a f e w miscellaneous projects, will be held this year, at though not as usual. The premium list, now in the hands of all coun ty extension agents, is a sizable ixxiklet of 28 pages. Th«* fat stock show will serve to provide a market outlet for western Oregon livestock club members at an actual saving in transportation, points out L. J. Allen, assistant state club leader. The baby beeves, hogs, and sheep fed out by the club members will b«* gathered up by trucks. The boys and girls will accompany their animal» and at Salem will take part in fat stock judging and showmanship contests, but on an individual rather than a team basis. They will be hou.wd in the exhibit building beneath the grandstand instead of in the usual dormitory. The animals will be judged Thursday, September 10, with the auction sab* starting at 10 o'clock Friday, September 11. Entries in the crops, garden, home economics and miscellaneous projects will be opened and judged during the same period but will not be on display. The fair grounds will be open to the public without charge during the period for those who care to see the fat stock, although there will be no other attractions ano no attempt is being made to «•ncourage attendance, says Allen.
