show w ill be held May 16, 1942, at
the S. P. stockyards in Junction
City. The premiums on this year s
show was slightly increased The
total about $250 ami w ill include
moie money in the single classes
for 4-11 and F.F.A. exhibitors,
w ith more money for the best dis
play of lambs, the medium wool
class. an<l a dog working contest.
A trophy cup w ill be given for the
champion fat lamb of lambs an I
a champion single fat lamb. Tire
lamb show is again open to all ex
hrbitors from Benton, Lane und
Lir.n counties.
Last year's fat lamb show hel l
in Junction C ity was the largest
held in the W illam ette Valley
w ith over 300 lambs being exhib­
ited. Despite the weather condi­
tions which prevailed, it is hoped
by the committee that the show
w ill not again be driven under
shelter by the rain which lasted
through the day. However, pro­
visions w ill be made to take care
of the lamb show in case of rain.

Ihe 21st annual nationwide Buddy
Poppy sale of the Veterans of
Foreign Wars of the United States
to be held Saturday, May 23.
Post No. 3-173 is one of approxi­
mately 3,600 local F. F W posts
which w ill participate in the 1942
distribution of Buddy Poppies for
the benefit of men in active ser­
vice, disabled veterans, their de­
pendents. and the V. F. W. Na­
tional Home for the widows and
orphans of war veterans. Last
year approximately 800 poppies
were purchased by local residents.
Commander Gregg, Post No.
3473, has announced the appoint­
ment of Glen St. C lair as chair­
man of the Buddy Poppy com­
mittee here. A sales force w ill be
organized.

is planned.

last week of appointment of Fran­
cis Smith as an inspector for the
West Coast Lumber association
in the statement that Mr. Smith
was the only West Coast inspec­
tor here. On second thought there
seems to be several inspectors
here. This was just one of those
cases where a little thought m ight
have saved a red face.
