Miss Agnes Graham, daughter of Mrs. Toy Graham, and Chester West, son of Mrs. L. West, were united in m aniage at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Lovegren. Sunday afternoon, November 23rd at 2:30 o’clock. The vows were read by the Rev. Atwood Foster as the couple stood before the fireplace. Baskets of bronze and gold mums were placed on either side of the fireplace and on the mantel. About thirty relatives and friends witnessed the beautiful ceremony. The bride wore a white taffeta floor length gown with a white net veil and carried a bouquet of large white chrysanthemums and tiny yellow buttonhole mums. She was attended by Miss Genevieve Coblentz, who wore a gown of gold taffeta and carried a bou­ quet of pale gold mums. The groom was attended by Carl Linde of Curtin. Mrs. West is a graduate of Cot­ tage Grove high school with the class of 1934. Mr. West is em­ ployed at Seaside, where the couple will make their home. I O l NG-GILLIS. Miss Lillian Young, daughter of Mrs. J. E. Young, became the bride of Warren R. Gillis, son of Mrs. L. W. Gillis of Vancouver, Washington, Saturday. November 22nd at Eugene. The ceremony was performed a t 1:00 o'clock in the afternoon by the Rev. Norman K. Tullv, Presbyterian minister. The bride wore an afternoon dress of Tangerine red wool with brown accessories and a corsage of white gardenias and pink rosebuds. Miss Dorothy Zimmerly was maid of honor. She wore a teal blue street dress of wool with black acces­ sories and a corsage of white car­ nations. Verne Thoreson acted as best man. The bride is a graduate of Cot­ tage Grove high school. The groom attended Oregon State college at Corvallis, where he was affiliated with Sigma Alpha Epsilon frater­ nity. Immediately following the cere­ mony Mr. and Mrs. Gillis left for Portland and points along the northern coast on a wedding trip. ENGAGEM ENT A N NO UNCED Mrs. Grace E. Miss Stowell, who attended Cottage Grove high school and Oregon State college, is employed with the Pacific Tele­ phone and Telegraph company in Portland. Visitors were present from Med­ ford, Albany and Corvallis nt the district convention held Monday afternoon and evening in the I.O.O.F. hall by the Degree of Honor. The meeting began with a luncheon at 12:30 with forty-eight present. Mrs. Merle King and Mrs. Bonnie Schaffer were in charge of table decorations which were in keeping with the fall season. Mrs. Leontine Knickerbocker gave the address of welcome, which was re­ sponded to by Mrs. Harpole of Corvallis, who represented the lodges of the state. Mrs. Violet Hyde of Albany, state president: Mrs. Ethel Lindholm of Portland. Junior state past president, and Mrs. Lois A. Geiser of Battle­ ground. Washington, national sec­ ond vice president and regional director, were present and the af­ ternoon was spent with a round­ table discussion. A banquet was served at 6:30 at the Rainbow cafe witn fifty-four in attendance. Mrs. Genevieve Nelson was in charge of table decorations, with the patriotic motif being used. Following the banquet the initia­ tory degree was conferred U|xin six candidates by the local lodge. Those receiving the degree were June Hubbell, Edith Bradshaw, Mary Martin. Evelyn Leabo, Mary Ann Smith and Frances Shilling. Each one present was presented a red carnation, the lodge flower, and all officers were presented corsages. Mrs. Ethel Lindholm re­ ceived a gift from the lodge with Mrs. Helen Cochran, president, making the presentation. Mrs. Wilson of Medford, Mrs. Geiser and Mrs. Lindholm reported on the national convention held last summer at St. Paul, Minnesota. The Medford and Albany Glee clubs entertained with vocal num­ bers and the Albany chapter pre­ sented a drill. The next regular meeting of the local chapter will be held Monday, December 8th in Eagles hall. Election of officers was held by the Rebekah lodge at their meet­ ing Friday evening as follows; Noble grand, Mrs. Rosa Peterson; vice-grand, Mrs. Vera Ziebeek: secretary, Mi’s.
