Number Arrested Future Farmers
Drunken Charge
Numerous arrests continue to
be made by state and c ity o ffi­
cers on charge o f drunkenness. On
November 12, I.loyd Gilhant was
arrested and charged w ith d riving
a car w hile intoxicated. He. was
fined »10 In the city. November
13, Ted M ille r forfeited $10 tsail
on charge of drunk anti disorderly
conduct. On the same date M ax­
ine M ille r was arrested on a dis­
orderly conduct, charged and ta k ­
en to Eugene and lodged in tlte
women's detention department of
the county ja il. She was fined $5
and cost and given a th irty-d a y
ja il sentence and the ja il sentence
suspended on good behavior. On
November 13 also D orothy Briggs
was arrested on a drunk d riving
charge and lined $100 in the city
court, $50 of which was suspend­
ed. November 14th, Rudy Hoaas
forfeited a $10 bail on charge of
intoxication in a car.
Fugitive» Give Up.
Two fugitives from justice, John
and W a lte r Ferren. made a vol­
u nta ry confession to c ity officers
November 15th of a $333 larcenv
from a Naches, Washington, cafe
The pair were taken to Eugene
and turned over to the Naches o f­
ficers.

e tt’s small house and M r. and Mrs.
Joe Lancaster, who moved to Dex­
te r recently are moving to one of
Miss Hawley's cottages. The farm
at D exter was sold to C alifornia

Club met last Thursday at the
home o f Mrs. John Lam b due to
the bad weather only a few mem­
bers were present. Two comforts
were tacked. The next meeting
w ill be December 11 w ith Mrs.
A rth u r Dugan in Cottage Grove.
Mr. and Mrs. Bryon Jorden and
Merle M ille r o f Toledo were Sun­
day night guests of M r. and Mrs.
Bayne. Mrs. Bayne accompanied
them to Eugene Monday.

1 cup steamed, mashed and
strained pum pkin.
2 3 cup brown sugar
4 tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
very little nutmeg
3 eggs,
2 cups‘ m ilk o r cream
salt
P ut the pum pkin into a large
bowl, add brown sugar and spices.
Beat the eggs w ell and add to the
pum pkin m ixtu re , then add the
m ilk o r cream and a little salt.
Pour in to a high-rim m ed unbak»d
pie shell and put in to a hot oven
1400 degrees) u n til shell is set
(about 10 m inutes does it) , de­
duce the heat to 325 degrees and
bake u n til a s ilv e r kntfe inserted
in the center of the pie comes out
clean. Serve w ith slabs of cheese
o r whipped cream.
Honey Pum pkin Pie.
3 4 cups pum pkin
1 tsp cinnamon
*i tsp cloves
4 tsp ginger
4 tsp salt
1 cup liqu id honey
3 eggs
1 4 cups m ilk
2 tbsp m elted b u tte r
4 pint heavy cn-am
Sim m er pum pkin u n til most of
liquid evaporates. Remove from
heat; add spices, salt. hon«’y. Sepa­
ra te eggs. Beat egg yo lks; add
m ilk and b utter. Add to pum pkin.
Beat egg w hites s tiff;
fold in.
Pour into unbaked pie shell. Bake
in hot ovep (425 degrees) 10 m in ­
utes. Reduce to moderate <325 de­
grees) bake 75 minutes. Cool. Top
w ith whipped cream.
