The prim ary purpose was to recommend ad justm ents which would perm it Oregon a gricu ltu re to contribute most towards national defense and at the same tim e prepare it to w ithstand the impacts of the emergency period and emerge la t er to avoid the disasters which a g ricu ltu re suffered follow ing the firs t w orld war. The preparation of the report was undertaken by fo u r principal subcommittees, forestry, range livestock, general farm ing, and fa rm , home and ru ra l life. As de term ined by the committer*, the adjustm ents in Oregon a griculture fo r a ll-ou t defense fa ll into two closely relat<*d classes. The firs t includes measures to meet changed a;.d cha* ging needs in the fie ld o f pro fic tio n . The second class include; measures fo r im proving the w elfare ol the peo ple so th a t they m rv meet the problems o f defense w ith renewed vigor and w ith l ew confidence in the dem ocratic way of life. These measures fa ll in t ' ** fields of health, n u tritio n , s 'c u rity and general morule L a te r a* tid e s w iii deal w ith recommendations on these subjects.
