It is ra th e r regrettable that no more o f the local people
availed themselves o f the o p p o rtu n ity o f v is itin g the open house
at the B rice Creek and E lk to n CCC camps Sunday. It w o n ’t help
much to o ffe r a belated .apology, hut perhaps it w ill show the
personnel that we d id not e n tire ly forget such a th in g existed
to express our regrets in b e h a lf o f those who had good in te n
tions as we d id and fa ile d to c a rry them out.
In this day and age. when we fin d ourselves surrounded by
m any o b ligatio ns and duties, it is m any tim es d iffic u lt to do the
th in g s we should do. C ottage (¡rove, lik e m any o th e r eommuni*
tit« , is over clubbed am i over organized and in g e ttin g in th is
condition, there are instances where the o rig in a l purpose o f such
organization is lost in the maze o f e ffo rt in tr y in g to do the
things we should do.
The p u b lic in general appreciate what the CCC camps have
meant to this section o f Lane county and what they have meant

year-round educational program is being geared up th ro u g h the
m edium o f the ju n io r forest council, w ith the cooperation o f in-
d u s try agencies, the forest service, the college o f fo re s try o f the
U n iv e rs ity o f W ashington, and w ith State F orester G oodvear as

casserole. To the cooked cornmeal
mosh add the molasses, salt, c in
namon. ginger, sugar and butter.
Beat w ell w ith egg heater; then
pour slow ly over the beaten eggs,
w hile s tirrin g . Pour over apples in
the casserole, and bake in slow
oven o f 275 deg. fo r about 1 hour,
35 minutes. Serve w ith cream.
