Lane-Douglas Co. A Christmas Preview for Him
REA Is Underway
The R EA projects in Lane and
Douglas counties involving an ex­
penditure of $1,157,000 w ill be un-
.derw ay shortly, according to an
announcement by Ronald Buford,
Lane county R EA manager, the
first of the week. Preliminaries
looking to the start of the Lane
county electric cooperative's $595.-
000 w ill be underway w ith in the
next three weeks, it is understood.
Among the projects authorized
is the N o rth Douglas R E A w ith
headquarters at Drain, which, ac­
cording to reports, has received
a loan of $177,000, part of which
w ill be used to build lines and a
substation at D rain. There w ill be
about 400 members in the district.
Another R E A district is said to
have been formed in western Lane
county and funds in the sum of
$125,000 has been loaned to the
district. A 33kw line w ill be con­
structed from the Bonneville sub­
station a t Eugene to D rain w ith
substations at Creswell and here,
the announcement said. The line
w ill be ready for use w ithin about
six months, w ith the date M ay 1st
set for delivery of power to Drain.
User members w ill be able to
get funds for house w iring under
a special fund, it was announced.
