A two hundred per cent increase
in Easter lily bulb plantings in the
Brookings area is reported by the
state department of agriculture
plant division. Plantings were com­
pleted about the middle of No­
vember. Incidentally the Brook­
ings area reported its first blooms
on the 1941 crops of calla lilies
and daffodils around November 12.

gene Friday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Wallace of
Silverdale, Washington, have dis­
posed of their farm there and
bought a home and grocery store
in Seattle. They are old-timers of
Cottage Grove and at one time
were in business here. They had
lived in Silverdale the past twen­
ty years and before their depar­
ture a group of more than two
hundred friends gave them a fare­
well party.
Mr. and Mrs. J. Jackson and
Mrs. A. Pedersen of Chester. Cali­
fornia, visited Sunday at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. E. V. Shortridge
at London.
Miss Mattie Ruth Montgomery
