Sent to President
The senate yesterday passed
the $305,000,000 appropriation
bill and the measure now goes to
the White House for the signa­
ture of President Roosevelt.
President Roosevelt is expected
to sign the non-military appro­
priation for the war department
this week. The bill carrying $305.-
000,000 appropriation includes
$172,000,000 for fkxxi control and
approximately $6,000,000 for the
Willamette valley project. The
record breaking appropriation is
the biggest fkxxi project ever
launched by the nation.

Softball League
The Dorena team defeated the
Postoffice by an overwhelming
score of 27 to 8 last Friday eve­
ning. This game was played on
the high school diamond which
accounted for the large number
of runs scored.
The Quality Market and the
Union teams battled into extra
innings Friday evening before the
Union salted away a victory with
a three-run rally in the eighth
for an 8 to 5 victory.
Monday night the Postoffice
and the Eagles met for the cellar
honors with the Mailmen coming
out in top by a score of 19 to 6.
This leaves the Lodgemen in sole
possession of the cellar.
Darling Variety held its league­
leading position Tuesday evening
when they routed the Bohemian
club team by a score of 12 to 3.
Culp Creek climbed to second
place in the league standing Wed-
nesday evening when they felled
the Lumbermen by a score of 7
to 5.
Friday evening the Union and
Darling Variety will meet at
Kelly field to make up a game
postponed from May 30.
The schedule for the 7th week
of play, which is the final week
of the first half, is as follows:
Monday—Dorena vs. Bohemia.
Tuesday—Union vs Eagles.
Wednesday — Quality vs Culp
Creek.
Thursday—Darling Variety vs
Postoffice.
