MCHUMHES I Arcade Theatre Silk Creek Diane Theatre The Lions association is conducting a campaign to expose the aims of Communism, Naziism and Fascism, and strengthen democratic conceptions in the United States and Canada. No one is permitted to be out of step in Germany.” Mr. Jones elaborates further on this question, and contends that Hitler is antagonistic to democracies because his own theory of government cannot exist in fair competition with democratic principles. Naziism, therefore, used force and coer cion to drive its own supporters into line, and misses no chance to contribute to the downfall of the democratic idea, which it considers dangerous to its own existence. “On merit alone,” writes Mr. Jones, “democracy will eventually win the support of all men. Therefore the Nazi plan is to eliminate it. If democracy does not exist in the world, it cannot be a danger to Naziism.” Contending that the lose structure of democracies, which gives us all so much personal freedom, forms an easy target for propaganda against democracy, Mr. Jones urges that Ameri- cans and Canadians place their patriotism above their politics and present to outsiders a unity of national purpose to resist the encroachments of “world theories” that are backed by ma chine guns and bombs. service and study. Kelvinator Economic stress in Italy and Germany will force those totalitarian governments into world trade based on mutual benefits before it leads them into war, thereby forestalling a world catastrophe, according to Dr. Henry Grady, vice chair man of the United States Tariff Commission, and a close ad visor to Cordell Hull, secretary of state. Such a belief was ex pressed by Dr. Grady in a recent address on “World Economic Cooperation,’’ which formally opened the peace project at the San Francisco exposition recently. Dr, Grady expressed the view that it will be the pinch of I the so-called economic plans of Germany, Italy and Japan that! will force them into closer economic cooperation.
