Gain Over 1937
The assessed valuation of all
Lane county property, exclusive
of that of public service com­
panies, is $69,250 greater for 1938
than It was in 1937, according to
the assessment summary an-
nhunced at the office of County
Assessor Welby Stevens Monday
in Eugene. The total for 1938 is
$34.085 687 as compared with $34-
016,437 in 1937
The increase comes principally
from improvements to property'
both in cities and farming dis-
tricte the assessor said. There is
also some increase in the valua­
tion placed upon personal proper­
ly.
War veterans’ exemptions of
$1000 each showed a big increase
this year, amounting to $227,960
as compared with $203,360 last
year. These exemptions, provided
for by state law to those veterans
whose disability Is rated by the
United States veterans' bureau up
to 40 per cent, decrease the total
assessed valuation to that extent.
The 1938 summary as an­
nounced by the assessor follows:
