Cottage Orove, Ore., July 3.—(To the Ed itor.)—All members of the band were inter ested in your last week’s first page feature titled “ Are You Proud of Your Band?” Every member of the band appreciates the boosting the home newspaper has done. There could not be the interest that has been shown in the home town band except for the free publicity given by the home newspaper, which I personally believe to be the best country newspaper in the state. Conducting a newspaper must have some of the feature« of being a part of a home band —-there must be a lot of labor for which there is little reward—but we who arc interested in making Cottage Orove the best little city in the world can not stop to consider reward for our services—if w« did we would have a very poor sort of city. If the band is, as you said, one of the best advertisements a city ever had, a newspaper comes in the same category. We certainly wouldn’t be very proud of our city If we didn’t support a home newspaper. I believe residents of Cottage Grove gen erally appreciate what their home newspaper means to the city, as is evidenced by their loyalty to that newspaper, and I believe the larger part realize that the better their sup port the better the newspaper they will have, and It follows that the better the home news paper the better the home city. All together for a bigger and better Cot tage Grove, L. L. H A R R E L ,
