In some instances there are as many as five different dairies delivering milk in one block, none of them making anything because they are not selling enough. Yet the public has to pay them for their time. Of the 27 dairies in Cottage Grove, about five of them were being inspected before the price of milk was raised to ten cents per quart. Since that time there has been a thorough .eheck-up and it has been found that many of the dairies have not the proper equipment with which to handle the milk and can not afford to buv the equipment because of small volume. It would be better to have fewer dairies and a better quality of milk at a price the public could afford to pay.
