Money Paid for Bottled
Drinks Builds School
House, City Hall, Armory
Your schools, your city hall, your armory are, no doubt, a
source of considerable pride to every person who buys a
nickel bottled drink. They ought to be, for they are splen
did buildings, and you, no doubt, are paying part of the
tax money with which they are being paid for. You are,
no doubt, proud to have a part in providing such splendid
buildings. However, you probably have no objection to
letting industries of the city pay their share of the taxes
w ith which such buildings are built, and we are wonder
ing if you know that if every nickel drink drunk in Cot
tage Grove were manufactured in Cottage Grove, it
would require increased equipment upon which taxes
would be paid, it would require additional employes who
also would pay taxes, and would spend their money here
to help others pay taxes.
The easiest way to reduce the tax to each individual is to
increase the amount of property paying taxes. The way
to increase the amount of property owned by such indus
tries as a bottling works, a bakery, a creamery, a wood
manufacturing plant, is to buy the things these industries
make whenever it is possible for you to do so.
