Dear Cottage Grove." Rev. Cameron was highly praised for bis address before the conven tion. He spoke of the service the Lions clubs could do for hum anity and pointed out that as nature had richly endowed the Bend country with things beneficial to humanity, so should the Lions clubs turn their services to the good of humanity. As souvenirs of the convention members were given smoking stands made from Juniper by Bend high school students. Juniper Is an attractive wood and takes a finish something like myrtle. Spraying for Fruit Fly Is Urged by Fletcher The first cherry fru it flies have made their appearance and a w arn ing is being sent by County Agent Fletcher to all farmers ln the coun ty to spray thsir cherry trees at once, and all other trees in close proxim inlty to their cherry or chards. In orchards where other trees have been lnterplanted w ith cherries, every tree In the orchard should be sprayed, according to Fletcher. Hedges bordering cherry orchards should also receive the regular spray applications. Directions for spraying follow: The first spray should be applied a t once. The second spray should be applied one week later, and a th ird spray should be applied one week afte r the second. An extra spray should be applied after eaoh rain from the time the first spray Is put on until one or two weeks a fte r the time fo r the last spray.
