Lane county. There arc now about

Hop, grown in I.ane county arc
of the finest grade, most of them
being exported to England. There
are about 1000 arrea of hop, in
th« county, bringing annually over
$50,000.

of butterfat for commercial use. There are in the county
six creameries, eight cream purchasing stations and a
number of independent shippers, giving total annual re
turns to the producers of over three-quarters of a million
dollars. The Eugene Farmers creamery, a cooperative
plant located at Eugene, has 550 farmer stockholders and
a new modern plant costing $85,000. This plant is de
voted to the manufacture of sweet crearn butter, ice
cream and pasteurization and distribution of milk, whole
sale and retail. Our dairy herds arc being rapidly trans
formed into herds of pure bred stock, consisting princi
pally of Jerseys, Holstein« and Guernseys. The mild win
ters and long growing season make dairying especially
profitable..
