CLOSING CIGAR STORES,
THEATERS TO BE ASKED the sophomores won from the are oa the supper committee, while

appear before the city council next
week to ask that cigar stores and
thuaters be closed on Sundays. It
is understood thn t there exists
a petition which was circulated
a year or more ago which bears the
names of several hundred residents
asking the closing of these places
of business on Sundays. Members
of the council havo not expressed
their position.
Classes Clash in Basket Ball.
Bound two of the intcr-clnss bas­
ket ball series at the high school
was played Friday, resulting in a
9-14 victory for the senior,, over
their freshmen opponents.
The
sophomore-junior setto ended in fa-
seniors, while the freshmen bested
the juniors.
Judging from the
work of some of the players, Coach
Grannis contends that prospects
are good for sending a winning
team to represent the school in the
association games. During the sea
son Cottage Grove will compete in
about 10 games, several of which
are scheduled. The list to date
includes matches with the univer­
sity high, Eugene, Albany, Cor­
vallis and Springfield.
Bazaar to Be Held at Hobron.
Members of the auxiliary of the
Coast 'Fork Farmers’ union local
are planning a Christmas bazaar
to be held in the Hebron hall the
afternoon and evening of Tuesday,
December 16. The proceeds will be
used to furnish the hall.

Anderson 4 Middleton team will
clash tomorrow night in a game
