She Knew.
One of the biggest attractions to
the middlo westerner who comes
out here is the visit to the battle-
ships, some of which are alwayB
to be seen at San Diego. Many
of these visitors have never before
seen the ocean, let alone a battle-
ship, but for some reason they do
not like to let this fact be known.
Thus it was with the fair young
thing who was being shown about
by a sailor. He had explained
about a yeoman, able seaman, en
gineers and one thing and another,
and now the pretty girl pointed out
another man whose insignia was
different.
"That’s the eoxs’n” explained

Tho pear leaf blister mito has
developed as a sorious peBt on ap
ples in Orogon during tho last five
years. It affects both the foliage
and fruit. The infestation on the
foliage is easily observed because
of the peculiar thickened blister
like spots it causes. The spots are
usually of a reddish or brown color.
A careful sprayer will have little
trouble in controlling the blister
mite on pears with the dormant
strength of lime sulfur, 9-100, after
the leaves drop.
Well, Well.
‘1 These weather forecasters don’t

"But they predicted the rain
wo had yesterday, didn’t thoy!”
"Yes, hut tho rain would have
come even if they hadn’t predicted
it.”—Tit Bits.
