June 9.—Mrs. Melvin McKibben, who underwent an operation in Eu gene a week ago Monday, is report ed to be doing nicely. Mr. and Mrs. Hendricks, of Kelso, Wash., were recent visitors at the home of Mr. Hendricks’ sister. Mrs. Byron Winslow. E. J. Neff returned from Rose burg the last of the week. Glen and Dale Green spent Sun day with home folks. Mrs. Arthur Woolcott underwent an operation for goiter Friday in a Eugene hospital. Mrs. Watts, of Portland, a friend of Mrs. Woolcott, is staying with the family during Mrs. Woolcott’s absence. Dick Bittinger is home from the Ashby-Patten sawmill, where he is employed. Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Whaley and son Orville returned Saturday from Portland. Miss Mildred Burcham and Miss Mae Green were Sunday visitors at the E. R. Darnell home. Mrs. A. G. Nelson and sons spent a few days of last week with the Van Darnell family at Noti. Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Darnell and daugh ter stayed at the Nelson home dur ing their absence. LONDON. (Special to The Sentinel.) Juno 9.—Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Marlow, who had been visiting Mrs. Marlow’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Sutherland, left Monday by motor for Sunnyside, Wash. Joe Miller suffered a fracture of one leg Friday, while working at Woodard’s lower camp. Mrs. Mary Massey and Miss Em ma Jones went to Corvallis Sunday for a few days’ visit with Miss Orpha Combs. Mrs. Howard Cox was on the sick list all of last week. The protracted meeting, which had been in progress here for two weeks, closed Sunday evening. In spite of unfavorable weather, a largo number attended the ball game here Sunday between Walker and London. In a keenly contested game. Walker won 5 ot 4. The merchants ’ baseball team from Cottage Grove will play Lon don here at 6 o’clock Friday. 8. A.
