Oil Showings Continue
The Eugene oil well was bailed out Tuesday. Material
brought up from a depth of over 1000 feet through cold
water still steamed and showed signs of heat and gave
out an odor reminding one of the sea beach. Fragments
of sea shells were plainly visible to the naked eye as
they reached the surface. Twenty feet of kootney was
passed through recently and 30 additional feet last
week.
To the experienced oil driller the above are sure
signs of petroleum when the required depth has been
reached. The Cottage Grove well shows like indications
at similar levels.
