MEMORIAL DAY WINDOWS
PAY TRIBUTE TO SOLDIERS
Several attractive windows in lo
cal business houses paid tribute to
soldiers and commemorated Mem
orial day. At the Graham Picture
Shop several very fine patriotic
pictures were used in the window'.
One, a valuable print from n steel
engraving made shortly after the
Civil war, was prompted by the
outcome of that struggle. Another,
showing the surrender of Cormvallis
in the Revolutionary war, was made
in 1845. More recent pictures were
inspired by the Spanish-American
and world wars. At the W. L.
Darby store a grave, decorated with
flowers and flags, mutely paid trib
ute to the soldier dead.

something that will overcome the
laws of gravitation. If he would
invent something that would cause
