Harry Benston was in from Saginaw Monday on business. Banker Bergman, Florence, Dead. Florence, Ore., March 2.—John W Bergman, president o f the Lane County «State and Savings bank o f Florence, died early this morning after a brief illness with influenza. Mrs. Bergman is also ill with influenza, but her con «lition is not at present regarded as serious. Mr. Bergman attended a mooting of the state highway commission in Port land last week for the purpose of fur thering road interests o f this region and was taken sick immediately after his return. He became rapidly W'orse and the end came this morning. He was a member o f a pioneer coast family and was widely known in the western part o f the state. Two Suits Filed in Court. Eugene Register: W. L. Darby & company have instituted suit in circuit court against R. B. Arden, seeking to recover the sum o f $231.40, with inter est at the rate o f six per cent from February 27, 1922, and the further sum of $35.95 with interest from January 10, 1922. The Credit »Service company is plaintiff in a suit against W. A. Trow* brdige and Henry Mabie, seeking a judgment in the sum o f $476.43, with interest at the rate of six per cent per annum from January 30, 1922, ami the further sum of $«5.67 with the same rate o f iuterest from November 28, 1921. Superintendent Churchill Takes Bride. Salem, Or«»., March 2.— Announce ment was made today o f the marriage o f J. A. Churchill, state superintendent o f public instruction, to Miss Inez R. Depew, of Chicago. The wedding took place in Chicago, where the bride had lived for 12 years. Miss D«*p«»w lived in Oregon from early girlhoo«!. She taught in the rural schools of Lincoln and Lane counties ami was graduated from th«» Oregon Normal school. Shi» taught in the schools o f Baker for eight years while Mr. Churchill was supervising the schools there. , Mr. Chiirehill is attemling a super intendent’s meeting in Chicago.
