THURSDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2019 THE CHRONICLE — 3 SPOTLIGHT COMMUNITY COMMUNITY A fall fieldtrip to My Brothers’ Farm Bison and piggies and bees oh my! Recent visitors to the annual Fall Festival at My Brothers’ Farm were treated to a tour of the 320 acres, bustling with activity. More than 50,000 plants and trees have been installed in the last six years in efforts to restore natu- ral habitat. (Clockwise from left) “Bison Whisperer” Austin Larson (brothers Taylor and Ben, not pictured) calls in the herd of bison. A senior member of the herd stands by in the cool autumn sun, surrounded by many of his offspring. More than 35 bison roam the pastures, eating grass and grains, before eventually being harvested for their meat. A popular hayride attraction, guests including James Horvath, 3, throws an apple to one of 26 eager, free-range pigs, as his sister Piper, 6, takes a more cautious approach. Vibrant beehives line the workroad through the farm, insuring not only pollination for the native species, and organic apple and hazelnut trees, but also the harvest of sweet golden honey.
