Ernie Smith received a salmon on be- half of his daughter Paige, an accomplished artist, but she was too busy to decorate it this year, so Ernie took a shot at it and ended up with a spectacular piece of art. Gretchen Stelzenmueller, of Gretchen’s Saddlery, has once again used her leather-working skills to create another masterpiece. Kari Budge, who was pregnant at the time, made sure to deliver her beautiful artwork before deliv- ering her baby son Thomas. Several mem- bers of the Free Wheelers are participating this year, including Joe Hammons’ “Good Time Guy” which incorporates the remains of a recent party into his piece. Nacho Art, responsible for the gorgeous mural on the side of the El Amigo Bakery, has created a lovely piece. And Robb Wilson has again added his quirky humor and artistic sense to his creation. The Knee Deep in Salmon Auction is scheduled to start at 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 1 at Hawkins Park. Make sure to bring your money to support a good cause, and hopefully you’ll go home with your fa- vorite salmon!
