A good many of us chose to lease their car for a number of reasons. We electric car owners did because unless one has a tax burden of at least $7,500, we can’t take full advantage of the Federal tax credit for buy- ing electric. Fortunately, the Oregon State electric car incentives of between $2,500 and $7,500, depending on income, come in the form of a cash payout, not a tax credit. Well, regardless of what kind of car you are leasing, look up your lease buyout and your car’s trade-in value on Edmunds or Blue Book. All cars, but particularly electric cars, have appreciated quite signifi- cantly. In fact it’s now worth more wholesale (trade-in value) than I paid for it new a year ago! Now, of course this is a bad time to buy a new car as dealers are no longer deal- ing. In fact, many are charging a dealer premium over sticker of $2-5k, just ‘cuz they can! And not just on electric cars, any car, new and used is drawing a premium price. And many dealers have very lim- ited inventory, and a waiting list of many months! I could have waited until my lease end to buy it, but interest rates will likely be much higher than they are now. So I chose to buy mine out of lease right away. The last thing I’d want to do is let it go back to the dealer at lease end and give him all that appreciation. So if you’re leasing your car, you might want to buy it out now too. Nick Galaday Vernonia To the Editor, The time has come for us to announce our retirement from All In Pub & Eatery. This month marks our 11 th year serving our community and patrons. This announcement comes with great excitement and some fear of the unknown. It has been an amazing 11 years. The past 2 years have been the most challenging. We cannot thank this community, and surrounding cities for the unwavering love and support through those difficult times. This community and our awesome staff kept us going, we are grateful to say the least. We pray you are as gracious to the new owners as you have been to us. Our plan is to stay in Vernonia. We plan to take time to go see new sights and have a “date night” WITHOUT grocery shopping! Lol. We also plan to spend some much needed time with each other, family, and friends. This business has taught us so much about ourselves, other people, love, heartache, fear, but mostly family and compassion. It has allowed us to have a roof over our head and provide one for our employees. We could NOT have done any of this without our EMPLOYEES through the years. We thank them every day, and from the bottom of our hearts. Please be patient during the next few months of transition. It will be worth it. There will be a few days coming up that we will need to be closed to transfer accounts. The new owners are excited to continue great customer service and hopefully many new things to come. In other election news, State Rep- resentative Brad Witt, who announced he would not seek re-election after District 31 was redrawn, announced he would seek re-election to the Or- egon House in District 19, which in- cludes a portion of Marion County and is currently held by Republican Raquel Moorre-Green. Salem City Councilors Tom Andersen and Jackie Leung have already filed to run as Democrats for the seat, while T.J. Sullivan, a Salem insur- ance broker, has filed as a Republican. After living the past few months in a foster home so she could have her kittens, she is now ready to start a new life in her forever home. This little girl is the bell of the ball. Her foster is very happy to report that she loves the other cats in the home, and does well with younger kids. There are no dogs in the home so we aren't sure about dogs. Mary loves to get pets and will greet you at the door when you get home. If you think you can give this girl a good home as an indoor-only cat please email adop- tion@columbiahumane.org in order to obtain an application. Once we have an approved application on file we will then schedule a time for you to come and meet her. Her adoption fee will be $125 which includes her current vaccinations, treatment for fleas and worms, spay, and microchip. 2084 Oregon Street, St. Helens, OR 97051 Scarlett is a beautiful, sweet four year old female German Shepherd. She has had some training and knows her basic commands. She is very eager to please and connect with her owners! She is reactive with other dogs so will need some dog socializing. She can learn to live well with cats. She is very calm, but true to her breed she is very protec- tive. She is wonderful with younger kids and will make someone a great companion and watchdog. Her ideal home will have a backyard to call her own and a couch she can have her naps on.
