Bonamici Helps Deliver $87.7 Million to Oregon Families to Assist with Home Energy Costs To the Editor, The Vernonia Senior Center would like to extend its thanks to the community for the support of our center and the gener- ous donations we received during De- cember from several local individuals and families. We’re excited to be open- ing the new building for noon meals for seniors after almost ten years, and we are gradually adding new activities during our open times on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Funds will help families with heating, utilities, and energy repair costs Vernonia Senior Center Board Oregon Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) an- nounced the delivery of $87.7 million to Oregon through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) through the American Res- cue Plan and the state’s annual funding allocation. This seven month old boy is full of adventure and has lots of love to give. When he first arrived at the shelter he was pretty scared and timid. As time has gone on he has just gotten full of more love. James does not seem to mind other cats, however we would either like to place him with his brother Jim or with a female cat that is older and already established in the home. He has had limited exposure to young kids and dogs, so a quiet, calm home is probably going to be best. If you are interested in meeting him we ask that you please email adoptions@columbiahumane.org in order to obtain an application for adoption. His adoption fee is $125 which includes his current vaccinations, neuter, micro- chip, and treatment for fleas and worms. 2084 Oregon Street, St. Helens, OR 97051 Hazel, through no fault of her own, is back up for adoption. Coming back into the shelter at 9 years old, this little lady has been completely vetted and was found to be in great health. As with any older dog, she does have a little arthritis but that can be easily managed. Hazel is looking for a home that she can retire in, a home with a fenced-in backyard, a dog bed and maybe even a couch with an extra lap to lay her head in. We do know that she doesn’t do well with cats and if she is to go with another dog it will need to be an older male that just wants a pal not really a playmate.
