Adam Hahn Rachel Aguirre Perez was born January 29, 1954, in Lubbock, Texas, the daughter of John Aguirre and Pauline (Luna) Aguirre. She was raised and received her education in the communities of Prunedale and Salinas, California. She was united in mar- riage to Joe Thomas Perez, Sr. in Monterey, California. Fol- lowing their marriage, they resided in Vernonia, Oregon for sixteen years, until moving to the Beaverton community, where she had resided since. Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, on May 30, 1996. She was a homemaker. Rachel enjoyed attend- ing Bible study at the City Bi- ble Church in Tigard for many years. Among her special in- terests, she enjoyed reading her bible and having lunch with her family and friends. Rachel had a special love for spending time with her grandchildren and face-timing them while away from them. She enjoyed play- ing wordscapes on her cell with her favorite reality shows in the background. She was always so happy when family visited with pan dulce or maple bars. She was also preceded in death by her mother Pauline Woodard, her son Joe Thomas Perez, Jr. on March 31, 2007, and her grandson Marcus Perez on June 15, 2012. Survivors include her two daughters and a son-in-law, Elizabeth and Sarvjit Singh of Portland, Oregon, and Mary Perez of Beaverton, Oregon; her father John Aguirre of San Adam Hahn of Verno- nia was among the undergradu- ate, adult degree and graduate- level students who received di- plomas from George Fox Uni- versity in the spring of 2021. Rachel Aguirre Perez January 29, 1954 - May 27, 2021 Rachel Aguirre Perez, 67, a resident of Bethany, Or- egon, died Thursday afternoon, May 27, 2021, at the Kaiser Westside Medical Center in Hillsboro. Antonio, Texas; and her four sisters and brothers-in-law, Cindy and Mike Meacham of Camas, Washington, Dolores Serna of Beaverton, Oregon, Betty and Deon Dirks of St. Helens, Oregon, and Sophia and Manuel Garcia of San Antonio, Texas, and her four brothers and sisters-in-law, Gilbert and Marylou Aguirre of Salinas, California, David Woodard of Hillsboro, Oregon, Elmer, Jr. and Heidi Woodard of Yelm, Washington, and Mat- thew Woodard of Vernonia, Or- egon. Also surviving are her nine grandchildren, Alisha Holt and her husband Mason, Justin Perez, Lucas Martinez, Alexis Martinez, Josiah Balthazar, Amaani Singh, Jesse Singh, Levi Singh, and Ariella Singh; her great-granddaughter Alyssa Perez; and many nieces and nephews. Cochrane, 69, a resident of the Vernonia community, died Friday after- noon, June 4, 2021 at his home in Vernonia. Private Cremation Rites will be held at the Hoyt Crematory in Forest Grove. Bruce William Co- chran was born December 28, 1951, in Binghamton, New York, the son of the late Rich- ard Olin Cochran and Elizabeth June (Foreman) Cochrane. He was raised and received his ed- ucation on the east coast until his senior year in high school, when he moved with his fam- ily to Los Altos, California. Bruce graduated from the High School Class of 1970. He was united in mar- riage to Christine Marie Pear- son on September 2, 1989, in Tierra Del Mar, Cloverdale, Oregon. They celebrated their 31 st wedding this past Septem- ber. Following their marriage, they made their home in Tigard until 2016, when they moved to the Vernonia community, where they have resided since. Bruce had worked as manufacturing supervisor in the hard window coverings industry for many years, until he retired at the age of 60 years old. Among his special in- terests, he was an avid reader, he enjoyed sports, especially playing golf. Bruce like play- ing poker. He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Elizabeth Cochrane; and by his brother Richard Olin “Roc” Cochrane, Jr. Survivors include his wife Christine Cochrane of the family home in Vernonia, Or- egon; his five children and their spouses, Stefany Hazelett of Reno, Nevada, Donna (Moore) Barkdoll of Elma, Washington, Steven and Nary (Kitchan) Ha- zelett of Tualatin, Oregon, Jo- seph and Carmelia (Dela Cruz) Hazelett of Federal Way, Wash- ington, Marcie (Hazelett) and Greg Duvall of Forest Grove, Oregon. Also surviving are his nine grandchildren. GATS is from Oakland California and loves to visit Vernonia when work- ing in Portland. Locals may recognize his work from the Chip Shed at the Mill Pond. His toothy or bearded brand is the Where’s Waldo of the street art com- munity. His images bring people from all over looking for the bearded Waldo. He is a highly respected artist and his work is one of the few in the Chip Shed that has remained untouched for quite some time. GATS is providing this artwork at no cost to the community due to his connection to PSAA and his love of Vernonia. It is not funded through the Travel Oregon Grant. As plans for the murals come together, Organ is now trying to plan for an art festival, with mural painting ten- tatively happening the week of August 30, ending with the festival on Septem- ber 4 that will include sidewalk chalk mini murals, a chance to visit with the artists, music, and art vendors.
