Trees in the City of Vernonia’s Ora Bolmier Park
were removed during the week of January 18. The Douglas
fir trees were afflicted with a spreading root rot that had
caused several to die and fall, and the rest of the stand was
a hazard to houses in the neighborhood. The City plans to
immediately replant the area with several species not sus-
ceptible to the disease.

High Water Event
A heavy tropical rain storm caused local rivers and
streams to reach minor flood levels on January 13.
At the confluence of Rock Creek and the Nehalem
River, water backed up into the City’s Anderson Park
horse arena.
