16 schools december19 2019 Holiday Concert Students from the Vernonia High School and Middle School performed in the annual Holiday Concert on December 12 to a standing-room only crowd in the Schools Commons. Di- rected by SeungJin Bae, the audience was treated to traditional and non-traditional holiday classics, that included performances by the Beginning Middle School Choir (left), the High School Band (bottom left), and the Middle School Choir (below), along with performances by the Baroque Recorder Ensemble and the High School Choir. VHS Winter Sports Report Boys Basketball – The Loggers have started their season with mixed results posting a 2-2 record in non- league play before losing 86-61 against Mannahouse Christian Academy on December 16 in their opening game of Northwest League play. The Loggers opened the season by hosting the Vernonia Tournament on December 6-7, falling in the opener 56-50 to Umatilla, before defeating Gervais 51- 42 to take 3 rd place in the tournament. On December 10 the Loggers traveled to Colton and defeated the Vikings 49-35. On December 13 Vernonia hosted Santiam, falling 79-39. The Loggers were scheduled to travel to Knap- pa on December 18, and host Neah-kah-Nie on Decem- ber 20, before taking a holiday break. The Loggers re- sume play on January 7 at Faith Bible.
